
The 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment Is Now Available
The South Burlington School District is sharing the following report at the request of our community partner, University of Vermont Health. The information and conclusions presented are those of the authoring organization and do not necessarily reflect the views of SBSD.
Fifteen community-based partners have completed the 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) for Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties, incorporating input from nearly 1,500 residents in 12 languages. The assessment will help shape community investments over the next three years.
Top community priorities identified:
- Building community connectedness
- Engaging on mental health
- Increasing health care access

Recent coverage has raised questions about South Burlington’s per-pupil spending. According to the Vermont Agency of Education, SBSD is below the state average and currently the lowest in Chittenden County. Read more in our update:

Vermont’s new education law, Act 73 (H.454), changes how schools are funded, how district boundaries may be drawn in the future, and which independent schools qualify for public tuition. South Burlington School District is monitoring these changes closely and will keep our community informed.
