"The Great Ice Out"
Contest Rules:
.) Burgess Sugarhouse will be facilitating this event. Employees of Burgess Sugarhouse and their families may participate in the contest, but must contribute all winnings to "Ila's Scholarship Fund".
.) Payment can be made in cash or check form. Payments can be mailed or dropped off to "School's Out - 2 Baldwin Ave, South Burlington, VT 05403." Payments can also be left at each of the School's Out sites (Orchard, Chamberlin and Rick Marcotte Central).
.) A sap bucket full of cement has been placed in the center of the pond at Burgess Sugarhouse in Underhill, Vermont. The Sap bucket is connected to a rope which will be connected to the power cord of an analog clock. When the sap bucket falls, the power will go out on the clock, letting us know exactly when the bucket fell.
.) If there happens to be a power outage on the day the ice breaks, the winning time will be whatever is showing on the clock (even if this is not the exact time the ice broke). If for some reason the clock fails to record the time the bucket falls, the winning time will be that when the bucket is first witnessed to be underwater by a Burgess Sugarhouse employee.
.) The contestant that guesses the closest to the actual date and time the ice breaks will win half of the money collected. If there is a tie, the contestants will split the winnings evenly.
.) Contestants can enter as many times as they would like. Tickets can be printed and distributed freely, however each ticket must be accompanied by the $1.00 fee when submitted.
.) 1/2 of all proceeds will go to Ila's Scholarship Fund and 1/2 will go to the end of the year trip for the Fifth Grade students of the School's Out Progra. If over $1,000 is generated, $500 will go towards the fifth grade trip and remaining funds will go towards Ila's Scholarship Fund.
.) Any amount donated with a ticket above the cost of the ticket will go directly into Ila's Scholarship fund unless the donator indicates otherwise.
