School’s Out will provide children a safe environment where they will be given the opportunity to express themselves and develop socially, physically, artistically, and creatively through a program that nurtures and respects the uniqueness of every child.
PROGRAM
School’s Out offers students a wide variety of choices each day. Activities include arts and crafts projects, active gym games, monthly field trips, homework club, creative play options, and socialization skills taught during afternoon circle and snack time. School’s Out will always provide opportunities for students to explore, relax, create, grow, and most importantly, have fun. The program is offered from school dismissal (2:40pm) until 6pm. School’s Out is fully licensed by the State of Vermont as an after school child care program.
STAFF
Along with the School’s Out coordinator, each after school site will have a site director who will be directly responsible for the implementation and design of the program. The director will be joined by counselors with a 1-10 staff to child ratio maintained. The School’s Out staff is a group of dedicated, enthusiastic, caring, and respectful individuals who enjoy working with children every day.
VACATION WEEKS/ SUMMER
School’s Out will have several options during the school year when school is not in session. During the two full week closings, February and April, School’s Out will offer a full day (8am-6pm) vacation camp for the entire week. These vacation camps will take place at one or two schools, depending on enrollment. Regardless of where the program is housed, children in all three after school sites will have the opportunity, on a space available basis, to enroll. During most half day or in-service dates, the program will continue to be offered at all three sites from 11:30-6pm. Please refer to the parent handbook for exact “Dates of Importance.” A full day, 8 week summer camp will once again be offered at one of the three after school sites during the summer of 2009. All full week vacation and summer camp options require separate enrollment and fees.
PARENT HANDBOOK
The parent handbook gives detailed information about the program, protocol for various situations, and important payment and fee information. Please use the handbook as a tool and a reference to learn more about our School’s Out program.

PAYMENT POLICIES
Tuition for School’s Out can be paid monthly or weekly. Your fee will cover the week or month that follows the payment. There will be no charge during full week school closings. School’s Out will follow the South Burlington School calendar. The costs have been evenly distributed to make it easier for families to keep their tuition obligations consistent throughout the year. As a result, regardless of half-days, early dismissals, parent/teacher conferences, partial vacation weeks, or school cancellations, the tuition costs will remain fixed. Early pick-up by a parent or student absences will require full payment. A detailed calendar of the payment schedules will be sent along with your parent handbook. You will be able to use this calendar as a reference to keep track of your payments. Limited sponsored slots are available. After enrollment in the program, a family may apply for a sponsored position. Awards will be based on financial need.

A non-refundable registration fee of $25 for all enrollees is required with each application. A $5 processing fee will be assessed for any change made after initial registration.
