Save before you print.
Some users have reported repeated problems with Word97 when printing:

Word 97 Print Bug: Be on the lookout for a data-destroying print bug in
all versions of Word. To avoid the bug, make sure to save a file before
you print it. If you don't, Word closes the document without saving your
changes. That can be quite a shock if you don't save often. (Strangely,
the modified version of the document will print fine.)As we went to press, Microsoft had updated its Knowledge Base to
acknowledge the bug, but had not yet announced a fix.Prowling around a few sites, we (DNS) found the answer. Here's the answer from
Microsoft:> WORKAROUND
> To avoid this problem, print from within the Microsoft Word program
> (click Print on the File > menu in Microsoft Word) or save the document
